Victorian Carved Oak & Chestnut 1860 Queen Size 4 Pc. Bedroom Set, Marble Tops

The finest example of its type we have ever seen, this magnificent Victorian four piece queen size bedroom set was hand carved of solid chestnut and oak about 1860.

Comprising a queen size bed, marble top nightstand, dresser with mirror and small chest or commode, the gleaming finish is in excellent condition. There are just enough mars at the edges and shrinkage separations from age for antique character, plus various restorations over the years.

Three dimensional fruit sculptures with grapes, nuts and leaves are masterfully sculptured on this American made furniture.

The bed has been expertly adapted to fit a standard modern queen size mattress and box spring as shown, wood slats underneath are included. Original side rails have been extended. Size is 93" long, 72" wide, the headboard is 77" tall and the footboard is 37" high.

Three side pieces have marble tops which have been polished and sealed to resist stains. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and carved pulls inside "racetrack" moldings. Doors have working locks.

The chest or dresser has a swivel mirror with original "smokey" glass mounted between lavish pierced galleries. Measurements are 52" wide, 24" deep, 93" tall and the base is 30" high.

The small chest or commode is 33" wide, 18" deep, 33" tall and the marble top is 30" high.

Nightstand size is 19" wide, 17" deep and 30" tall. There is a hairline crack in the marble, see photos.
