A late Victorian or Eastlake period secretary desk was richly carved of solid walnut with burl panels about 1880. The drop front has a leather writing surface. Incised carving and the pierced gallery on the upper bookshelf are beautiful.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture. There are candle or lamp stands on both sides.
Engraved brass hardware is original, the key in the front is a handle only, the lock does not work. The drawer has dovetail joints.
Size is 36 1/2" wide, 16" deep and 54 1/2" tall, the desk top is 29" high.
