A group of eight Victorian period dining chairs are actually two similar sets of four identical chairs. Hand carved of solid walnut about 1860, the upholstery is in very good condition with minor wear and spots, see photos. Often called "balloon back" or "finger carved," these graceful chairs are relatively large and comfortable for their era.
Frames have been reglued to be strong and sturdy for another generation. Some have carved reinforcements on the backs as shown, and there have been various repairs over the decades. The finish is in very fine condition, restored about 20 years ago.
Dimensions are 19" wide, 21" deep, 36" tall and seats are 18" high.
