A spectacular tall case or grandfather clock was signed by famous maker, "Herschede," of Cincinnati, Ohio and sold by "Marshall Field & Co. of Chicago" about 1910.
The solid mahogany case is all original with a very fine polished finish, there are a few mars at the edges for a little antique patina. All glass is original and beveled.
The dial is hand engraved and chased in gold plate accented with silver. Five tubular chimes play on the quarter and hour - the Westminster melody is familiar from Big Ben at Parliament in London.
The beautiful 8 day signed brass movement has been professionally cleaned, adjusted and oiled, and keeps excellent time. Three brass weights power the movement and hourly strike. On the dial are silent controls.
