Papier Mache 1850's Antique English Pearl Inlaid Letter or Napkin Holder
A wonderful example of the "papier mache" craze in the 1850's, this letter or napkin holder has genuine gold leaf painting and inlaid mother of pearl and abalone inlay work.
The original finish is a work of art with some wear and crazing or crackling from age for antique character as shown. The back side was broken off, and restored with a wood panel on the reverse.
Made in England, measurements of this antique are 9" wide, 3" deep and 8" tall.
