This grand set of eight oak dining chairs was masterfully hand carved around 1890 for a manor in the Black Forest area where the German, Swiss and French Alp Mountains meet.
Frames with spiral columns have been reglued, they are strong and tight. The lustrous deep finish is in excellent condition. Soft comfortable seats are newly upholstered on this European antique furniture. All but two of the side chairs have a double eagle family crest or coat of arms.
The armchair measures 27" wide, 27" deep, 52" tall and the seat is 20" high. Five side chairs are 20" wide, 20" deep, 45" tall and seats are 19" high. Two side chairs without the crest are 44" high.
