Used in a general store to weigh and price groceries and meat, this signed "Dayton Computing Scale, Dayton, Ohio" has Dec. 6, 1904 as its newest patent date.
The original painted finish on iron with pin striping is well worn, original embossed nickel finish mounts have wear and repairs, see photos. The round polished plate glass platform is a replacement on this American made antique scale.
While not legal for trade in most areas, the scale still works. Rated to 30 pounds, prices are calculated for items from 4-60 cents per pound, including 5 1/2 and 12 1/2 cents. A lever on the right side of the base unlocks the scale to swivel on its base.
