A walnut and sterling silver "jogging stick" is signed by famous silversmith, "Reed and Barton," with the engraved inscription, "Run for your life."
These were originally made for just 2 1/2 years in the mid 1800's, but we do not know how old this one is. Designed by Charles E. Barton, who was jogging and bothered by a pack of dogs, then designed this wand to tap them on the nose.
The ultimate Victorian accessory for a New York gentleman, this baton is 14" long and 5/8" diameter.
