Wonderfully hand carved in Holland around 1700, an oak sideboard or console cabinet was deeply sculpted by a master with family crests and figures. Every surface is hand hewn and chiseled on this Dutch antique furniture, joints are secured with carved wood pegs.
The old finish is very well preserved, waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
The separate base is only about 100 years old, and was custom made for this cabinet. Door locks and key work, the rough hewn back is attached with carved wooden pegs and later screws. The top is three hand cut angled planks with planed tongue and groove joints.
Dimensions are 52 1/2" wide, 16" deep and 45 1/2" tall.
