This Nickelodeon was built on a 1917 Holland Piano. The case is spectacular tiger or quartersawn oak with a warm golden brown finish in excellent condition. It plays a standard "O" roll. There is one roll included that is in very good condition with 10 songs, including Singing in the Rain and other old classics. This Nickelodeon has had various added components and alterations over the years, and was appears to have been completely rebuilt about 25 years ago. It includes a bass drum, which hangs on the outside of the piano, a snare drum (lighted inside, see photo), accordion, marimba or xylophone, organ pipes, triangle, a wood block, as well as the piano itself.
It is in extremely good working condition, and has been expertly gone over; all the hoses and pipes are in very good condition. There is a on/off switch on the side of the case, and the mechanism automatically rewinds at the end of the roll and repeats. These "orchestra pianos" or nickeledeons were popular from the late 1800's until jukeboxes appeared in the 1930's, and were often in neighborhood pubs. Standard music rolls are available. The cabinet is 5'5" wide, 30" deep, and 58" tall, the bass drum adds 30" in diameter, and is 20" deep. This wonderful Nickelodeon always draws a crowd and is in excellent playing condition!
