A wonderful "Panettiere" or country French cabinet for fresh bread and baguettes was hand carved of old wormy walnut about 1820 with grapevine and wheat motifs.
The old finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are restorations and wear for a little character. The hand wrought iron lock and key still work on this antique provincial furniture. Iron hangers are on the back for wall mounting, this pantry cabinet can also sit on a counter. Joints have carved wooden pegs. Spindles have the natural variations that show hand work by a skilled country cabinetmaker.
Size is 39" wide, 19" deep and 38" tall, including the removable finials, which are later.
