An exquisite genuine bronze sculpture of a young lady on a swing is signed, "Aug. Moreau," from the Art Nouveau period in France about 1900.
The swinging figure has a bright natural bronze patina, the natural tree and leaf design frame has a rich dark chocolate patina. Felt under the feet allows this work of art to sit flat on a surface.
The Moreau family of sculptors was renowned around the world for their naturalistic and graceful sculpture. Louis Auguste was born in Dijon, France in 1855 and died in 1919. He studied with his father and uncles, also at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.
