A set of six Windsor style dining chairs were carved of wormy elm hardwood about 1870, signed "Marsh Sleatford, Made in England." The seats of these traditional chairs were carved from single blocks of elm hardwood, because of its strength and durability.
The original wax finish is in very fine condition and has been rewaxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are stains and mars for antique character, see photos. This small and sturdy furniture has been reglued to serve another generation.
Size is 17" wide, 19" deep, 36" tall and seats are 18" high and 12" deep.
