A wonderful Victorian period hotel reception desk, bar or bank counter was hand carved of solid oak with green marble mounts about 1870 in England. Raised panels, the curved end and carved details are artistic. On the back is a kneehole with a floor, intended to work at stool height.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving just enough mars, stains and shrinkage separations from age for a little antique character.
Marble inserts have some restorations. There is a brass plate for making change on this antique architectural salvage furniture.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints. The top cash drawer has a double throw working lock. There are dividers for ledgers and file books.
Measurements are 61" long, 26" deep, 42" tall and the top surface is 35 1/2" high.
