A true "six board chest" was constructed of wide single planks of pine about 1840 in Ohio, and could also serve as a coffee table. Corners have hand dovetailed joints and there is a compartment for valuables inside.
The original grain painting is in very fine condition, protected with some dings and mars for antique character and has been preserved with a coat of clear varnish.
The original lock and key still work, but we have removed the upper part of the lock for safety, and it is included.
Size is 44" wide, 22 deep and 25 1/2" tall.
