A Georgian period grandfather or tall case clock from about 1810 was hand carved of solid oak with traditional motifs. The original hand painted iron dial is signed "Alex Trotter, Jedburgh." There is charming wear to this painting, with a bird, peach and berries at the top.
The charming small town of Jedburgh in Scotland is in the Scottish borders, south of Edinburgh. Home to a famous abbey, there has been a church here since the 9th Century.
The old finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed. There are shrinkage separations from age on this antique British furniture. The upper door has old wavy glass and the bottom door has a working lock and key.
The clock has been fitted with a modern quartz battery movement.
Dimensions are 18" wide, 10" deep and 86" tall.
