A market place scene with awnings is depicted in this original oil painting on canvas from about 35 years ago, signed "Shirl Smithson, OPA." Soft southwestern tones are beautiful in this restful view.

The Illinois artist, Shirl Smithson, studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and founded the "OPA" group of Oil Painters of America. She died in 1999.

A custom mat, gold liner and "pickled" finish frame are in very fine condition on this vintage work of art.

Overall size is 34" x 28" and 1 1/2" deep.
