A genuine Arts and Crafts or Mission Oak "Royal" reclining Morris chair retains some of its original leather upholstery.
The finish is also original with a few stains as shown. The sturdy frame is solid quarter sawn oak,a push button mechanism on the arm operates the tilting leather back, and works like new. An engraved brass "Royal Chair" signature plate on the back side shows the latest patent date, "May 1st, 1900."
The original leather has minor wear and crackling. This antique is entirely original except wooden wheels which have been replaced, and the original seat cushion which has been reupholstered.
Measurements when upright are 30" wide, 31" deep and 41" tall. Each push of the arm button allows the backrest to recline another notch to about 7 positions.
