Victorian Chairside or Bedside Reading Table

Signed "John Carter of London, Trademark Literary Machine," this wonderful Victorian chairside or bedside reading table or bookstand is also useful for dining.

Solid mahogany antique furniture from about 1870, this adjustable stand is entirely original. The finish is very fine for its age, with a few shrinkage separations - see photos.

Porcelain wheels allow easy moving, and the top can be flat for dishes or angled for reading. There is a signed iron ratchet mechanism to adjust height from 28" to 43" tall. Firm and strong, the tray is 33" long and 17" wide.
