Exhibiting no fear for exploring the possible combination of color and shapes artist Bruce Bodden creates bold and daring abstract paintings which turn average landscapes into three-dimensional patterns of lines and color. Often beginning with a photograph, he uses oil pastels or acrylic to create a range of nearly realistic imagery to geometrically simplified abstractions.
In addition to oil pastel and acrylics, Bodden also works in wood. He is most notably known for his marquetry. This technique is the art of making pictures out of thin wood veneers.
Bruce is an established, yet still emerging, artist from Neenah, Wisconsin. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in drawing and functional design. His work is on permanent display in corporate collections throughout Wisconsin and held in private collections regionally and nationally.
Winner of the 1990 Wisconsin DNR State Park sticker contest, Bodden appears regularly at art fairs throughout Wisconsin. His use of vivid colors and geometrical shapes makes his work easily recognizable. He stands by the thought that art imitates what life wants to be and uses his art to make people smile.
"Bull 3" by Bruce Bodden, pronounced "Bull Cubed" is an acrylic original on canvas, measures 36" by 24".
